Vueling cancellations - what applies?
A cancelled Vueling flight entitles you to compensation if you weren't informed in time (at least 14 days before the flight) and you arrive more than 3 hours later at your final destination. You can always claim a refund for the ticket, but in many cases you are also entitled to compensation.
However, extraordinary circumstances, such as natural disasters, strikes beyond the airline's control or bad weather, may exempt Vueling Airlines from paying compensation.
Delayed Vueling flight - what are you entitled to?
For long delays - over three hours - you can claim compensation as long as the delay is due to something within Vueling's control. This includes technical problems, lack of staff or poor planning.
If you are stranded at the airport for more than 2 hours, you are also entitled to free meals, drinks and possibly accommodation if the delay is prolonged - especially if the next flight doesn't leave until the next day. You can read about reimbursement of additional expenses here.
When are you entitled to compensation?
You can claim compensation from Vueling if one of the following situations has occurred:
✅Your Vueling flight was delayed with more than 3 hours arrival delay
✅ Your flight was cancelled less than 14 days before departure
✅ You were denied boarding due to overbooked flight
But only if the delay was due to technical issues, overbooking, last-minute cancellations, or something else within Vueling's control, may you be eligible for compensation. Exceptional circumstances such as bad weather or political unrest exempt Vueling from paying compensation.
What counts as extraordinary circumstances?
Some events exempt Vueling Airlines from having to pay compensation:
No compensation (extraordinary circumstances):
Storms, fog or other bad weather
Political unrest
Strikes by airport staff or air traffic controllers
Natural disasters
Compensation possible (airline responsibility):
Technical faults
Scheduling problems
Staff shortages
Cancellations due to operational disruptions
Often airlines don't disclose the full reason - we'll help you find out if it's really the airline's fault.
